Intellectual Property: A Key Driver of our Economy :
Innovation and creativity have always been the foundation of our economy, and effective enforcement of intellectual property rights enables us to promote economic growth, ensure our global competitiveness, and protect the health and safety of our citizens. Today’s release of the Administration’s 2013 Joint Strategic Plan for Intellectual Property Enforcement builds on our efforts to protect intellectual property to date, and provides a roadmap for our work over the next three years. In preparing the 2013 Joint Strategic Plan, we solicited public comment on how to improve our approach, and that public input was invaluable in drafting the final version of the Joint Strategic Plan. We will continue to seek public views on how to best promote and protect intellectual property rights.
 
Colombia and the OECD: What Does This Mean for Its Intellectual Property Policy? :
At the end of May, Colombia and Latvia have been invited to be part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Through the ensuing discussions related to the entry to OECD, Colombia should demonstrate compatibility with the principles of OECD, including its intellectual property standards. During recent years one area of OECD´s “aid for trade” in Colombia has been the training and campaign for protection and active enforcement of IP.

AAUP Sees MOOCs as Spawning New Threats to Professors' Intellectual Property :
Colleges broadly threaten faculty members' copyrights and academic freedom in claiming ownership of the massive open online courses their instructors have developed, Cary Nelson, a former president of the American Association of University Professors, argued here on Wednesday at the group's annual conference.

US Businesses Launch Coalition For Fair Trade With India :
A new coalition of United States business groups, called the Alliance for Fair Trade with India (ATFI), launched today to take aim against what they say are discriminatory trade practices in India against US exports.

ITC Rules in Favor of SI Group in Intellectual Property Case :
SI Group, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of chemical intermediates, achieved a significant victory in the intellectual property case filed with the International Trade Commission (ITC) against Sino Legend (Zhangjiagang) Chemical Co., Ltd., Red Avenue Chemical Co. Ltd., and certain affiliates.
