Recap of the June webinar: The New Generation of Intangibles

post Wednesday June 27, 2012

iprplaza

On Monday June 11th, IPR Plaza hosted its first webinar on a new generation of intangibles from a transfer pricing perspective for multinational corporations. For those who missed it, here’s a quick recap of what speakers Steven Carey from Transfer Pricing Associates, Hong Kong, and Vishnu Bagri from Accretive SDU Consulting, India, discussed.

·         New configurations or business models such as Facebook, Google and Zara pose a challenge to the OECD, because their intangibles are constantly morphing into new forms.

·         New forms of IP need to be categorized in order for the OECD to allocate tax profits.

·         Labeling, identifying, valuating and establishing ownership of intangibles is facilitated by the free-of-charge IPR Matrix©

·         To reduce transfer pricing risks that accompany new types of intangibles, recognition principles should be clarified in an international framework.

Slides of the presentations can be found here.

Monday’s online presentations marked the beginning of a series of webinars to take place on a monthly basis.
