Reuters reports that Google subsidiary Motorola Mobility has dropped a complaint of patent infringement against Apple. However, Google did not explain the reason behind the change. It only said: “As we have said many times before, we will continue to vigorously defend our partners”.
It is reported that the two companies were in patent war since 2010 and they were in settlement talks. Nevertheless, Google said in its filing that "there are no agreements between Motorola and Apple, written or oral, expressed or implied, concerning the subject matter of this investigation."
It seems like Apple has been the biggest winner in the smartphone patent war so far. However, the complaint can be re-submitted and Samsung’s recent lawsuit against Apple’s iPhone 5 is yet to be seen.
